Definitely checking out the toothbrush. Also, I could not travel anywhere without packing cubes. Just thinking about my trips they probably give me 30% more storage in my carry on than just packing my clothes like a savage. Great list!

Glad you like the list Camilo! Let me know what you think of the toothbrush. I love choosing a new color every month or so.

So far I really like it! Great recommendation.

Same here! Upgrading your utilitarian items like toothbrushes or vacuum cleaners is a great idea.

Might try storage cubes for travel. I use pseduo-storage cubes by way of ziploc bags for toiletries and other small items. Other than that, I pack my carry-on like a savage.

I used Ziploc bags for the longest time and they worked pretty well! I only use suitcases that have an outer pocket because I put my liquid toiletries there. If they explode, they won’t get on clothes inside the suitcase.

Well that's my Christmas list sorted. I'm serious: it's like you curated this list just for me. The pillow, though... I've been ummimg and ahhhing over the Purple pillow for a while. I need something with plenty of give (can't do those memory foam things) but not something that just collapses (like the average down pillow). I've been through at least 5 pillows in the last year and it gets expensive.

Haha I love hearing this Michelle. You have great taste. :] Re: the pillow, I recommend trying it at a mattress store if possible. I like give in pillows too and can’t do memory foam. If you end up trying it I’m curious to hear what you think.

I finally found competition in the house plant game! I have about 20.

I might check out the mic. I currently rock a blue yeti mic. You're missing out on mechanical keyboards tho. I joined that cult a few years back.

I took my Blue Yeti back out a few months ago and got a pop filter for it. It looks much cooler left out on my desk than Shure mic or other more normal-looking utilitarian mics. If you work in a relatively quiet space, the Blue Yeti should work.

You had me until the silent mouse - I love the clicking sound 😆 But I also like my loud mechanical keyboard so...

Love the Monos cubes - packing and repacking has been driving me up the wall lately. Thanks Wes!

Fellow Monos packing cube user! How exciting. Also you like a mouse’s clicking sound? One man’s treasure lol

This is awesome and very interesting too! Thanks Wes!

Thank you my friend! Hope you’re well

Love the idea of upgrading your utilitarian items that are used frequently to something higher quality and durable.

Definitely should start doing that more. It's a similar idea to a capsule wardrobe of having a few clothes that look good, are durable, good quality, and fit your environment.

I hate the unspoken expectation that you have to wear different clothes to work each day, otherwise people may think you don’t bathe. I love wearing the same thing every day. I used to feel like I should wear different stuff, but I’ve embraced that I pretty much wear 2-3 sweaters on rotation in the winter. Those 2-3 sweaters might change from year to year, but I always end up reaching for a limited number of items and that’s okay.

I'm holding onto this list. +1 on packing cubes. And I will probably grab the Shure mic and the Tevas. The BlackWing Pencils are a discovery

Wes Kao's avatar

Let me know what you think of the Tevas. I might get another pair one of these days in case they stop making this style. I’ve worn these shoes everywhere for 2-3 summers and they still look almost new.

Will do! I wish I had them while I'm in India, because they may nit see the sun in Canada until May/June!
